jesse robb. choreographer.

An Ontario native and honours graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, has worked continuously in theatre and dance companies internationally since he was seventeen. 

As a choreographer, Jesse most recently developed a new piece entitled Night of Noir for the Turner Classic Movie Company based on the MGM Classic, The Bandwagon.  Prior to that, he served as an Associate Choreographer for Walt Disney International out of Toronto, developing new works and enhancing existing.  In Montreal, he created new works for EZDANZA and helped remount the musical Joe Dassin for the Franco Follies Festival 2009.  Some of Jesse’s original pieces have been featured in New York City at NYU’s Retrospective and more recently at NY City Centre. 

In the Musical Theatre world, Jesse worked as Dance Captain/Swing for the world premiere of The Lord of the Rings at the Princess of Wales theatre in Toronto.  Following success with that production, he acted as Dance Captain and Associate Resident Choreographer for the international hit We Will Rock You at the Canon Theatre.  Subsequently he served as Resident Choreographer for the North American premiere of Dirty Dancing at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.  More recently he worked with the young actors portraying “Billy” for the premiere of Billy Elliot The Musical in Chicago, IL.   Early on in his career, he performed in Beauty and the Beast in Walt Disney World and with the First National Touring company of FAME.

As a concert dancer, Jesse was an original cast member of Cirque Du Soleil’s Zumanity. He has performed original pieces and toured internationally with celebrated dance companies including Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal, the Kevin Wynn Collection, and Momix.  He also danced a principle role for the Pas De Deux in the 2010 Winter Olympics opening ceremonies in Vancouver, BC.

Jesse’s film and television work includes a principle role in the BRAVO film, Nureyev, and featured dancing roles in CBC’s  Canticum Canticorum, 2007’s Hairspray, and the CW’s Reign.

As an instructor, Jesse has taught master classes for Cirque Du Soleil’s touring production of Delerium, Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal, and has substitute taught at Steps on Broadway and Dance Space in New York City.  Jesse has judged dance extensively, both in Canada and the U.S.
